Sam Adams Pumpkin Beer

So I'm at Applebee's, and I ordered a pumpkin beer. I was not impressed. I have to say, I'm a miller light girl myself, and I was not crazy about it. Maybe also because the first one she gave me wasn't pumpkin, and now I'm stuffed. It has a slight pumpkin taste, but I have to say, I enjoy pumpkin coffee more than this beer. So- fail. :(

Dunkin Donuts Pumpkin Iced Coffee

I had a delicious pumpkin iced coffee this morning. I love the first few sips of my coffee, because they put a squirt of that syrup at the bottom of the cup....so that means, when you suck it through a straw, you get the awesome pumpkin flavor first- but then when it's all gone, it tastes like regular coffee after. Dunkin Donuts needs to come up with a way to blend it better. There's my rant. Goodnight.

Pumpkin Pie Soup

I have to say, I wasn't sure how delicious pumpkin soup could be if you're using just plain, pumpkin purée. However, this recipe is very enjoyable. It's like a warm bowl of savory pumpkin pie :).

The recipe calls for 2 cups of apple cider. Honestly, I thought it was weird. The apple cider works out fantastically.

The instructions to this recipe are very simple. You just combine all the ingredients but the cream. After it simmers, add the cream and then simmer again until finished.

2 cups apple cider 1 (14 1/2 ounce) can chicken broth (about 2 cups worth) 1 (29 ounce) can pumpkin puree 1 cup granulated sugar (you may need slightly more or less depending on how tart your cider is) 1 tablespoon cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon clove 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg 1/2 teaspoon allspice 1 pint heavy whipping cream

Directions:
1
In large pot on LOW HEAT, combine all ingredients EXCEPT whipping cream; while stirring frequently, bring to simmer.
2
Allow to simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
3
Stir in heavy cream and return to simmer; serve.

I have to say, I only used 1/2 cup of sugar, and light cream instead of heavy. I feel that I can make different adjustments next time to make it healthier. I perhaps will cut the sugar and use low fat vanilla yogurt instead of heavy cream.

Ps- pictures did not upload in order

Dunkin' Donuts Pumpkin Coffee

I have to say, it's such a treat to sit down in the morning and sip on a cup of Dunkin' Donuts Pumpkin Coffee.  I think that I enjoy the "iced" variety more though.  This time I had it with NO sugar whatsoever, and the pumpkin syrup itself is just enough to not add any additional sugar.  If I had to compare the Iced Pumpkin Latte vs the Hot Pumpkin Coffee, I would have to go with the Iced one.  There was something almost "sinful" about it.

This week I will attempt to make pumpkin fries.  I'm hoping there will be a sweet potato quality about them.  I've seen different recipes for frying vs baking....I will attempt to bake them first to see how they come out.  Wish me luck!!

Ralph's Pumpkin Pie Italian Ice

Okay, so I walked into Ralph's Italian Ice.  Growing up, I was in LOVE with Chocolate ice and Lemon ice... but then when I found out about what they call "creme ices"... I was so taken back by all the "health-ier flavors than ice cream", I went absolutely insane trying all different flavors.

Typically when you walk into a Ralph's, there are some homemade or written in signs of new flavors that they are currently offering.  I wasn't prepared for what I found-- For a limited time, ralph's is carrying a Pumpkin Pie Flavored Italian Creme Ice.  Not only is it like sucking on a piece of frozen pumpkin pie, but there are pieces of pie crust in the actual ice.  While we were there, a friend requested a Pumpkin pie milkshake, which they topped with graham crackers.  I'll be honest, I had a sip, and it was absolutely INCREDIBLE.  The people at the Ralph's in Lanoka Harbor, NJ are awesome, and I seriously will be going back to try a little bit more of the pumpkin pie italian ice, before the season is over.

It appears that Rita's also had pumpkin pie flavored italian ice.  That is definitely worth a taste.  I'm not sure how good or "bad" that it is for you, I'm pretty sure it can't be healthy, but it's "gotta" be better for you than ice cream, right? Everything's good for you in moderation, that's the key anyway.  I'd like to try Rita's and compare it.  I wonder if anyone out there has tried some and can compare them for me? In the future,

I will attempt to make my own healthy version of Pumpkin Ice cream, and I will let you all know how that goes. I will also attempt to make one pumpkin flavored item per week until december.  We can also talk about the benefits of using canned pumpkin vs canned pumpkin pie mix.  This is so exciting!  Hope you are all enjoying so far. Can't wait to hear stories, and see different pumpkin items that you have tried!
